Throughout the week Remodista played several different roles in the conference, mainly focusing on events and panels supporting women in leadership. We have even been invited to come back next year! Read all about our involvement (plus highlights from our favorite session) below.
Women in Leadership Breakfast
The Women in Leadership breakfast was an immense success, with approximately 150 women leaders in attendance. Remodista founder and CEO Kelly Stickel shared time on stage with Julie Mathers, the CEO and founder of Flora & Fauna (who was also a part of an amazing panel, "Responsible Retailing – Business as a force for good"). Other notable presenters included Chau Banks, the CTO of Revlon (see session details below) and Fran Ereira, General Manager of Sales & Solutions for Delivery Zip. They shared stories of their own success and challenges while inspiring the women in attendance."
Pitch Fest
Kelly had the opportunity to be a judge of the Retail Pitch Fest this year! She judged pitches from tech startups creating retail, FMCG, ecommerce, and franchise space solutions. One of our Women2Watch nominees, Emily, and her partner Kelly were declared the winners of Pitch Fest! They’ll now have two months in an incubator from the sponsor. Way to go Emily!
Increasing Women in Leadership Roles
Kelly moderated this panel that focused on hiring more women leaders. She was joined by Bernie Brooks, Bec Brideson, and Dominique Lamb. They covered:
Takeaways
The major takeaway from Inside Retail Live was this: we need more women leaders. (We know… what’s new?) This event illustrated once again that women can be great leaders when given the chance to grow in a supportive environment. Taking a part in the Women in Leadership breakfast and the Increasing Women in Leadership Roles session reaffirmed for us the importance of women’s visible involvement. Having women leaders as keynote speakers and panel moderators proves to up-and-coming women in retail that there are role models out there who may be of help — even if just by providing an inspiring success story. Women leaders matter, and we need more of them.
The Session You Didn't Want to Miss
This was our hands-down favorite session — and that’s saying something, considering how many good ones there were! Chau Banks, Revlon’s Chief Technology Officer, shared her Top 3 lessons on:
Inside Retail Live served as an inspiring platform for Remodista to connect with women leaders. We loved attending the Women in Leadership breakfast and helping others learn about the value of lifting women up.
Seeing one of our Women2Watch win pitch fest was a highlight of the week. If you’d like to support the Women2Watch program by sponsoring the awards show learn more here!
