Remodista iLab Pitch winner - Sanctuary.ai
Written by Jerry Talamantes, Client Relationship Manager and Retail Strategist, Remodista
An exciting congratulations to Sanctuary.ai for winning Remodista's iLab Pitch Contest on July 24th at 1871. They enthralled both guests and VIPS with their innovative business ideas. The competition, which showcased- the new and the now, of women-led business innovation, was a compliment to Remodista’s Chicago Community Day. It's an event that attracts pioneer thinkers, who want to better understand disruption and innovation. Check out the video interview with Suzanne!

The iLab selection process was difficult to narrow down as many new and creative business concepts entered for their chance to present their ideas to top industry executives in attendance.
Judges from Macy’s, Revlon, ShopStyle, OSF Commerce, and Remodista, evaluated the impressive entries and awarded top honors to Sanctuary AI, a Canadian based company pioneering robotics heading into the retail industry. The ‘synthetic humans’ they are creating are called ‘Synths’ and will eventually interact with human teams. Imagine how robots can be useful in a window display with facial recognition, or at a beauty counter to answer questions. The use cases for where retail could automate for efficiency is endless.
In this video clip, Jerry Talamantes meets co-founder of Sanctuary.ai, Dr. Suzanne Gildert, who discusses their mission, the impact of robotics advancing, and their current "ask" as they bring new ai technology into the retail market.
Additional honors went to two other companies, they are:
Balodana, a Chicago-based company revolutionizing made-to-measure apparel with a network of seamstresses and tailors worldwide. Founder Dana Todd has amassed a network of pattern makers, tailors and seamstresses who are creating custom fashion en masse.
And, Fem Tech Solutions, another Chicago based firm that works with blockchain and real estate. They have designed a secure way to reduce the time it takes for contracts to be validated. That’s a quick sale.
All three companies have been invited to present at Remodista’s annual Global Community Day in NYC in September. For these young companies, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to interface with change agents in our industry, who can help their organization network through the next stages of growing their business.
For Remodista and its network of thought leaders, the iLab Pitch competition underscores one of its key missions to empower and support emerging women leaders and their businesses.
Our Chicago Community Day was an inspiring event. We look forward to learning more at Remodista’s Flagship - NYC Community Day, September 19th.
