“Everyone should read this. Even better, take to heart and move forward with many of these insights and outlooks for growing business AND community.

What is so important about the 2018 Retail Look Book?

The 2018 Retail Look Book is a compilation of insights from people doing incredible work.  It’s a round-up of our founder’s perspectives from the last seven years of intensive work with retailers and the partners who serve them.  It’s a look into the businesses and brains of the award winning women leaders who are pushing themselves to try new things and solve difficult challenges.  It’s born out of the collaboration of our community.

Why all the umbrellas?

While the umbrella can be a tired business metaphor, when one strips away that legacy, you’re left with a powerful concept: shelter.  In times when the weather is rough, we’ll need to share our knowledge, solutions, networks and opportunities to make it through. We saw the symbol of the umbrella as a way to say, this incredible Remodista community is going to stick with you.

What's in the Book?

The book kicks off of a review of last year’s predictions, then gives fresh predictions for the coming year.  It’s the kind of guidance that will help you make better decisions about strategy and company direction.
Then the book is chalked full of incredible thought leadership across the retail industry.  Our Women2Watch Award Winners are featured.  You’ll find Abby Wallach from Scentinvent Technologies, Jade Collins from Femeconomy, and Marta Wohrle from Truth in Aging talking about their business’ paths.  You can learn about Julie Mathers from Flora and Fauna, and her dedication to responsible business.  Learn from Chau Banks, executive at NY&CO about how you can make your testing processes more successful. And Michelle Grant from EuroMonitor International helps unveil the retail possibilities of the Asia Pacific market.
In the Moving Forward section, we highlight future thinkers and researchers to share their thoughts. Maureen Jann from Remodista talks about the we need to support the humans running the businesses to see better profits. Kelly Stickel, Remodista’s founder digs deeper into the disruption happening around service integrations and the changes they’ll need to make. Steve McInnes, Tribal Scale Innovation Partner, details the importance of making room for video and voice over text in retail strategies in 2018.  Dana Schwarts, Remodista researcher and intern, shares her findings about the connection between Blockchain and fashion. Finally Chia-lin Simmons caps off the insights with an article about next generation merchandising using AI and Serendipity.
