Mobilizing Bricks + Mobile 2011

It wouldn’t be a mobile event without having the Bricks + Mobile 2011 website optimized for mobile users.
If you go to http://www.remodista.com/ from a mobile phone, you’ll be taken to a mobile optimized Bricks + Mobile site. There is much of the same information as on the website, such as Event Information, the Agenda, and our great Distillery articles – but optimized for viewing on mobile devices. You’ll also find additional features, such as directions to the Spertus Institute that uses geo-location (if your phone supports it) and integration with Google maps to provide a map and turn-by-turn directions. The “What to See-Do-Dine” section under Event Information includes maps and click-to-call phone numbers for recommended hotels, restaurants, Museums and other places to explore in Chicago. You can contact us directly from the mobile site by filling in the simple Contact Us form and we’ll get an email with contact details so we can get back to you. You can also jump over to full Bricks + Mobile 2011 website.
You won’t find everything from the Bricks + Mobile 2011 website on the mobile version. Just as a retailer’s mobile site should only include information and services from the online retail site that are most likely to be of interest to mobile users, so too have we only included information most likely to be of interest to mobile users.
Mobile Perspectives quickly pulled the mobile Bricks + Mobile 2011 site together for us using New Media Innovation’s Integrated Mobile Publishing Suite (IMPS). New Media Innovation also provided a Redirect module that we installed on our primary website, enabling detection and redirection of mobile users to the mobile optimized Bricks + Mobile site.
According to Todd Shingler from Mobile Perspectives, “IMPS is a Content Management and Publishing framework specifically designed for mobile devices. Mobile pages are configured from a set of pre-defined page elements and can pull content in real-time from existing web applications, content management systems and RSS feeds. When a mobile device requests a page, IMPS renders an optimized user experience tailored to the capabilities of that specific device. IMPS is pre-integrated with various mapping, search engine and ad serving providers and leverages geo-location, click-to-call and other mobile device features as appropriate. The mobile sites are hosted on Amazon’s EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) servers for optimal performance and scalability.”
